Brandon and I went to our "big ultrasound (US)" this morning. This is the US that I mentioned a couple weeks ago, where the tech spends a lot of time looking at the anatomy of each baby. All in all, it went very well. Both babies are measuring 19 weeks, 3 days...I'm 19 weeks pregnant and measurements are +/- 7 days...translation...they are both growing right on target! They each weigh 10 oz. and are about 6 inches long, head to bottom. It's hard to say what position they're lying in because they were both moving around so much, esp. Baby Girl! We were able to see each one's 4-chamber heart, kidneys, stomach, brain, legs, hands, feet, etc.
Baby Boy, William Ross Norris has his head right at my bladder/cervix, which I guess explains all the trips I had to take to the bathroom last night! Baby Girl, Margaret Grace "Maggie" Norris is lying at the top of my uterus and is a "wild one," as the tech put it. She sure is a busy little thing! Brandon wasn't too happy about his little girl already being called "wild." :) A couple weeks ago, we were told that William's placenta was very close/touching my cervix, a condition called Placenta Previa that has some complications associated with it. His placenta has "moved" away from my cervix, so much so that they don't even label it as low-lying placenta. Hurdle #1 cleared! Thank you God! Now onto hurdle #2. Maggie has a choroid plexus cyst on one side of her brain. This is a very common occurrence and usually corrects itself by 28 weeks. I am not overly concerned and neither are the doctors. We are being sent to a Maternal Fetal Specialist on May 7 to have another look at the cyst. I'm excited about the visit because I'll be able to see the twins again and the US machine is really high-end, so we'll probably get some great pictures! Please join us in praying that the cyst goes away. Even with Maggie's cyst, both babies are considered very healthy and are doing great.
The rest of the visit was pretty normal. I've been having some of the same issues this pregnancy as I did with Jackson's. My heart at times will race/skip beats/beat hard. With Jackson I was diagnosed with Mitral Valve Prolapse, but by the end of the pregnancy it had gone away. I am being sent to a cardiologist in the morning to see if that's what's going on again. My weight gain so far is on track with a singleton pregnancy, but because I'm showing so much I feel like I've gained too much, too early. If you haven't seen the pregnancy pics yet, scroll down on this webpage...I feel as big as I look. :)
Jackson's new bedding was delivered last week so we'll be working on moving him into his Big-boy room this month. I'm pretty excited! After we get him settled, we'll begin to get the nursery ready for the twins. Oh BOY!
I can't think of anything else right now...Brandon, let me know if I missed anything! We will put US pictures on the website soon!
